ASKLEPIOS

Asklepios was founded in 1985. Today, the hospital association with around 160 health care facilities is Europe's largest privately owned hospital operator. Our entrepreneurial activities have always aimed for forward-looking and high-quality medicine for all patients entrusted to us. Due to our wide range of services, we offer our 47,000 employees varied tasks and exciting challenges. We are represented in Germany in 14 federal states with medical facilities. Here are just a few highlights of our group:

At the center of our philosophy is the human being: In top-level medicine, personal attention is crucial in order to get well again. Every patient should receive this in the best possible way. At our facilities, our physicians and nurses treat more than two million patients each year. More than 26,500 beds are available.

In 2004, we took over the hospitals of the city of Hamburg and operate the largest private hospital network in one location in Europe. Since September 2011, MediClin AG has been majority owned by our Asklepios Group. MediClin is a nationwide clinic operator and a major provider in the fields of neuroscience, psychology and orthopedics.

In the group of companies, we cover the entire spectrum of healthcare services: In addition to the maximum, basic, regular and priority care, specialist hospitals with special areas of expertise operate far beyond the respective care region. As a provider of rehabilitation clinics, we have the opportunity to guarantee the entire inpatient care from a single source and to take top positions nationwide. Our patients receive outpatient support in our medical care centers.

Charité 

Charité is one of the largest university hospitals in Europe. All of our clinical care, research and teaching is delivered by physicians and researchers of the highest international standard. Charité proudly lays claim to more than half of all German Nobel Prize winners in Physiology or Medicine, including Emil von Behring, Robert Koch, and Paul Ehrlich. Charité is internationally renowned for its excellence in teaching and training.  Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin represents a single medical faculty, which serves both Humboldt Universtität zu Berlin and Freie Universität Berlin.  Charité extends over four campuses, and has close to 100 different Departments and Institutes, which make up a total of 17 different CharitéCenters.  Having marked its 300-year anniversary in 2010, Charité is now one of the largest employers in Berlin, employing 14,576 staff (or 18,010 if including its subsidiaries), and with a total annual turnover of €1.8 billion.

Helios Healthcare

Klinikum Nürnberg

Klinikum Nuremberg is a maximum medical care hospital and one of the largest municipal hospitals in Europe. With its 2,206 beds, two locations - one in the north and one in the south of the city - and with its staff of over 7,000, Klinikum Nuremberg is the biggest health service provider to almost 100,000 inpatients and of approximately 170,000 outpatients each year. Klinikum Nuremberg is divided into 42 specialty departments, centers and institutes.

Francisc Hospital Internal Medicine

Since the founding of the Franciscan Hospital, the Department of Internal Medicine has been supplying patients from all over Berlin. All medical conditions are diagnosed and treated here. In addition to basic and standard care, the clinic specializes in the fields of vascular medicine and diabetology, cardiology and hypertension, gastroenterology and oncology and pneumology.

UKE

The UKE

Since its foundation in 1889, the Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) has been one of the leading clinics in Europe. Based on the interconnection of medicine, research, and teaching, all employees at the UKE work hand in hand toward a common aim – the health and well-being of our patients. It is for them that we perform research. It is for them that we teach. And it is for them that we continue to learn.

With more than 11,000 employees, the UKE is the third-largest employer in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. About 2,900 of them are medical specialists and researchers, while more than 3,400 work as nurses and therapists. Together with its University Heart and Vascular Center UKE Hamburg and the Martini Clinic, the UKE has more than 1,730 beds.

Research at the UKE

Research is an important prerequisite for progress in diagnostics and therapy. The emphasis in UKE’s research are the neurosciences, cardio-vascular research, care research, oncology, as well as infections and inflammations. Other potential areas of the UKE are molecular imaging and skeletal biology research.

Medical Studies at the UKE

The UKE educates about 3,300 medical specialists and dentists. Some of our students achieve significantly better than average results in performance tests in Germany. We are praised throughout the country for our modern training techniques in which theory and practice are interconnected in an exceptional and progressive manner, and in which topical elements such as digital textbooks or computer-based simulation programs are utilized. The model study course iMED Hamburg, which was introduced in 2012, already fulfills the criteria for the further development of medical studies in Germany which were defined by the Science Council.

UKM

For “International Patients”, i.e. foreign nationals who enter Germany for the purpose of medical treatment, Münster University Hospital (UKM) can administer all outpatient and/or inpatient treatment and related services. These can include all the services encompassed by UKM’s mandate to provide healthcare.
