Description
Plastic surgery of ears' cartilaginous auricles with most common restoration being the correction of congenital protrusion of the ears, known as prominent (protruding) ears.
This disorder is easily treated with local anesthesia from the age of 6 years (up to 60 years of age) with surgery which restores the flaps in normal form and size.
With a cut on the skin behind the ear, the cartilage is redesigned and placed nearer to the head. After surgery, a bandage protects the ears for a week. Scars of Otoplasty are almost invisible but well hidden behind the ear.
The results of Otoplasty are judged to be satisfactory and permanent, while restoring the patient's psychology.
In any case the best is to discuss with the Plastic Surgeon of the Department to inform you about all the options and help you make the right choice.
