Hemodialysis treatments

Hemodialysis is a renal replacement therapy in patients with end-stage renal disease. It is based on the mechanism of diffusion and removes from the patient’s body low molecular weight uremic toxins and excessive fluids. HD sessions occur thrice weekly, 4 hours each time. In every HD session, the patient’s blood is transferred through special tubes to the HD dialyzer (membrane) where the uremic toxins are removed and then it returns to the patient’s body.

During ON-LINE HDF session, ultrapure, highly purified, dialysis fluid is produced and infused to the patient.

Online Hemodiafiltration is a blood clearance treatment for kidneys inadequacy that combines diffusive and convective transport using a high-flux dialyzer . Through Online Hemodiafiltration clearance of larger toxins by large-volume ultrafiltration is achieved helping the patient carry on an active life. The frequency of treatment varies, depending on the individual's situation, but the most common are three to five-hour sessions three times a week.
